Scholarships and Awards to promote learning opportunities for young harpists.

Harps Australia has supported a number of eductional opportunities for harpists in Australia including the yearly Sydney Harp Eisteddfod.

In 2017  Harps Australia announced a new  $1,000 scholarship for a young harpist aged 12-18 in need of financial support  to attend “Harp Holiday”. It provided the winner, a talented young Sydney Conservatorium student, with the opportunity to undertake lessons, participate in ensemble work and plan her studies for the coming year with Louise Johnson, Harp Principle of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and founder of Harp Holiday.   Continuing this tradition, we are again offering a scholarship this year for the  January 2018 Harp Holiday camp, to go towards the payment for one 7 day in-house package. Go to www.harpholiday.com/harp-holiday-2018html for details.

Each year, after 6 days of tuition, practice, ensemble work  in an inspiring musical setting, and lessons with Louise along with other coaches, Harp Holiday culminates in a public performance by the harp orchestra.

Students needed to  be currently studying the harp and to be in need of financial support to attend Harp Holiday to apply for this scholarship.

The Harps Australia Harp Holiday  Scholarship, with a total value of $1000 (for accommodation, lessons, ensemble work, meals and events), is targeted to a young harpist between the ages of 12-18.  And additional bursary of $150 towards  travel expenses for scholarship winners attending from Interstate or further than a 200 K travel distance from the venue will be provided.

Last  years winner, Joanne Baee, Sydney Conservatorium student.
